The 10th Meeting of the MECO-TECO Technical Working Group on Agricultural Cooperation was held via video conference on July 29, 2021. Deputy Minister Chin-cheng Huang of Council of Agriculture of Taiwan and an Undersecretary of Department of Agriculture of the Philippines hosted the meeting jointly. Ambassador Pei-yung Hsu of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines and Vice Chairman Lauengco of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei also participated in the meeting.

Following a briefing at Thursday’s weekly Cabinet meeting on the spread of COVID-19 and Taiwan’s response, Premier Su Tseng-chang said that the government is proceeding with extreme prudence and caution.

Premier Su Tseng-chang marked the second anniversary of his leadership of the nation’s highest executive team at Thursday’s weekly meeting of Cabinet, taking the opportunity to thank the group for their hard work and cooperation in overcoming difficulties and surmounting barriers along the way.

Premier Su Tseng-chang said Nov. 6 that the government is fully committed to transforming Taiwan’s pork industry by strengthening its global competitiveness while promoting the sector’s sustainable development.

Taiwan has strengthened measures for preventing the spread of African swine fever in outlying Kinmen County, and the country as a whole remains on high alert, according to the Cabinet-level Council of Agriculture Feb. 5.

At the Cabinet’s weekly meeting Thursday, Premier Su Tseng-chang said that the government’s agricultural policies over the past three-plus years to improve the well-being of farm workers, establish a robust environment, and boost agricultural competiveness have yielded impressive results.

Council of Agriculture Minister Chen Chi-chung says that this year’s Lunar New Year travel rush will bring with it a heightened risk of African swine fever reaching Taiwan. That’s because the disease has spread widely in the past year, hitting eleven countries in Asia.
